NMSU has been recognized nationally for its efforts in community engagement and strives to recognize and celebrate the community engagement facilitated by members of our campus community. Information on NMSU’s Faculty, Staff and Student Community Engagement Awards, as well as national institutional recognition can be found below.

Faculty and Staff Community Engagement Awards

The NMSU Foundation has established an endowment to annually award one Faculty member and one Staff member with a $500 award recognizing outstanding community engagement. The second awards will be presented in Spring 2017. The Application process closed on November 16, 2016. More information on the award application process is available by clicking here.

Student Community Engagement Award

ASNMSU in collaboration with an anonymous donor, plans to develop a Community Engagement Award to recognize the outstanding work NMSU students conduct every year. The $500 award will be presented to one student every year, in the form of a scholarship through NMSU Scholar Dollars. More information on this award will be provided soon.

From backyard gardens to high-tech laboratories, in classrooms, clinics and kitchens, New Mexico State University’s faculty, staff, students and others are involved in programs and partnerships that benefit communities across New Mexico. In recognition of its institutional commitment to serving these communities, NMSU has been selected to receive a 2015 Community Engagement Classification from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

APLU Innovation and Economic Prosperity University Designation

horizontal-designationNew Mexico State University has been designated an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities and its Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness and Economic Prosperity. The designation acknowledges universities working with public and private sector partners in their states and regions to support economic development through a variety of activities, including innovation and entrepreneurship, technology transfer, talent and workforce development, and community development.
